A community record of how player spending on Cobblemon Islands failed to deliver meaningful development, while limited-time crates, bundles, and cosmetics took center stage.
For a Broken Minecraft Server
This site compiles community reports, player experiences, and publicly available evidence. Its purpose is to document events surrounding Cobblemon Islands so players can make informed decisions. Some of the content reflects opinions or allegations from community members and should not be interpreted as established fact.
Most players are afraid to share or talk about this information for fear of being banned or punished.
$150 USD Rank that wasn’t configured for ~6 months.
SUMMARY:
Every Comm Goal is ~$1000usd
A so-called “development” company was paid over ~$250,000 USD to work on Cobblemon Islands, and it is suspected that the company’s owner has claimed that ~$50,000+ USD is still owed; despite delivering incomplete, broken, or non-functional work.
When Cobblemon Islands began losing staff and players, this same owner even attempted to purchase the server. Many former staff and players believe he deliberately trapped DiabloTurtle (the server’s owner) in a predatory, binding contract designed to shield the company from accountability. Under this arrangement, they could deliver broken or incomplete results, sabotage the server, and still profit. All while positioning themselves to take over the project if the opportunity arose.
According to Diablo, he is unable to openly discuss the situation, which indicates such a contract. As a result, the community continues to bear the cost of development work that was never completed.
Anyone who spends money on the server should be aware that a good portion of that capital goes to pay this “development company”.
Here is a post from a player who remains permanently banned after being falsely accused of homophobia. Many players believed the ban was retaliatory and intended to silence criticism:
Server Transparency (This post seems to indicate where the “staff harassment” charge came from for The Articulate Idiot who was banned. Not sure how this opinion post is considered harassment.)
That post was quickly closed by admin, with implications made against the player before they had any chance to respond. The player created a follow-up post before being banned entirely:
Transparency Follow-up & Clarification
Within 24 hours, the player was banned entirely. After a month of trying to reconcile, Diablo finally apologized to the player for the false homophobia label, but the ban was never lifted. The player also denied other accusations of harassment and fearmongering, which were never supported with evidence.
Since then, rather than addressing the concerns raised, the situation has only been further covered up and become less transparent.
THE STORY:
In September 2024, DiabloTurtle contracted a so-called “development company” that was, in reality, a Managed Service Provider (MSP) outsourcing work to third-party developers. Their task: convert Cobblemon Islands from the Forge mod loader to Fabric.
According to staff at the time, Diablo agreed to pay approximately $25,000+ USD per month. The migration was pitched as a way to improve stability, boost efficiency, and make content development easier.
By January 2025, rumors suggested Fabric was nearly ready creating a great influx of players new and old. At this point, an estimated $100,000–$125,000 USD had been spent. On February 4th, the Fabric launch began—and quickly became infamous. Thousands of comments in the announcement threads documented severe issues:
Despite weeks of ongoing problems as discussed in the threads, the developers and the “development company” insisted that most issues were reasonable and primarily caused by the complexity of transferring over 75,000+ user accounts. Reference from the former lead ‘dev’ here:
Amo = Expert at excuses and not taking accountability (a lot of staff ‘glazing’ in this post)
Oh yeah, there’s still no privacy policy detailing how they handle player data and what they do with it. Reference here:
Why doesn’t Cobblemon Islands have a privacy policy?
Anyway, many major problems had nothing to do with data migration, including:
Hosting provider failures.
Server stability issues, with desync problems nearly identical to Forge; despite Fabric being sold as the fix for instability.

etc. etc. etc.
Broken server protections, including claims not functioning properly.
Permissions misconfigurations, granting regular players admin-level commands (e.g., accessing others’ Ender Chests or teleporting the entire server).
Content removals without notice, leaving players unaware that core gameplay features available on Forge (such as Dens, Safari, Rotation Shops, Fishing, Breeding, and Raids) would be missing at Fabric launch.
Zero player guidance, with no tutorials, updated guides, or explanations. Even the volunteer staff team was left in the dark about how features worked.
Changed commands for teleporting, claims, breeding, and more, with no communication or documentation.
Persistent bugs and exploits lasting for months after launch.
Meanwhile, monetization continued aggressively:
Multiple limited-time crates and cosmetics were released during this unstable period, pressuring players to spend more money despite ongoing issues.
The “Warlord” rank was pre-sold for $150 USD, but remained unconfigured for over six months.

Expeditions, one of the only “new” features, shipped with long-term bugs that persisted for months (and may still be unresolved).

The Tinkaton Hammer, once the rarest tool on the server, had its abilities silently removed and was reduced to a cosmetic item under the promise of a “tool rework” that never happened.
Community Goal bundles were broken; at one point, over 5,400 New Year’s Crate keys were mistakenly distributed in 9-key bundles; instantly devaluing the crate by roughly $11,000 USD.
THE RESULTS:
Meanwhile, thousands of players still lacked their Pokémon, claims, or items due to unresolved transfer issues. Over 1,000 support tickets were filed. Many didn’t even bother submitting tickets and just quit.
During a post-launch Q&A, the owner of the development company remarked: “I think the Fabric transition went pretty well.”
The community strongly disagreed. Average player counts plummeted from 200–300 during the transition to under 100 within just a few months. While special events brought brief spikes in activity, over 100 Captain-rank players (many of whom had spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars) stopped playing entirely, citing repeated issues and perceived lies/broken promises.
Despite repeated issues, revenue streams continued to focus on crates, ranks, and cosmetics. Many in the community felt their trust was betrayed and that promises went unfulfilled, while new players unaware of the history are left carrying the financial burden.
Looking at the community goals, it’s clear the server eventually stopped generating enough revenue to cover $25,000+ per month. Even falling just two months behind would explain the speculation of ~$50,000+ the company claims is still owed.
STAFF INSTABILITY:
Cobblemon Islands has also struggled with long-term leadership. No head admin has lasted more than six months without either resigning or leaving amid controversy:
Himiko (Aug 2024) – Managed social media accounts tied to concerning external (pdf) material while they were staff/admin on the server for months before being quietly removed from staff and wasn’t banned for weeks. Evidence not included as it is not appropriate for children and illegal in many places.
Remixtech (Feb 2025) – Permanently banned and blacklisted after sharing player strategies. He later published a detailed document of his experiences that can be found here:
EmmaEnd (Aug 2025) – Resigned, citing frustration:

Emma’s message was deleted from the discord shortly after this website went live, so here’s a screenshot.
Here are some additional sources of feedback from players. Please note that all public posts and threads have been extensively screenshot and efforts to delete or otherwise censor them will be evident.
Here’s a copy of a post made by The Articulate Idiot that has been hidden. There used to be a ‘Feedback’ forum on the Cobblemon Islands Discord, but it’s not there anymore.
